Kindergarten Registration 2026–2027 School Year
Who should register
Children born between December 2, 2020 and December 1, 2021
If your child attended Universal Pre-K through North Rockland
- You do not need to register again for the upcoming school year
- Contact registration@northrockland.org if you have a change of residence
- Your child’s elementary school will contact you about Kindergarten screening
If your child did NOT attend Universal Pre-K through North Rockland
- Full Kindergarten registration is required
- Registration is completed using a paper packet
- Packets are available at Kindergarten Orientation or at the Central Office
Important dates & notes
- Registration opens March 2, 2026
- 2026–2027 registration is paper packet only
- Online registration is only for current Kindergarten students
- If your child will attend private school, a private school application must be filed with Central Registration

Paper Registration (Grades K–12)
Use the district enrollment packet to register your child for the current school year or the upcoming school year:
Instructions:
- Read the first two pages carefully, they contain important checklists.
- Complete the packet and sign/date where required.
- Bring all required documentation with your application.
Online Registration (Grades K–12, Current School Year Only)
Online registration is available only for Grades K–12 for the current school year. This cannot be used for UPK or for the following school year.
Before starting, have the following ready to upload:
- Photo ID
- 2 forms of utility bills
- Immunization records
- Most recent medical physical
- Child’s birth certificate
- Custody order (if applicable)
- Renters/homeowners affidavit (if applicable)
Important: Write down your application number for reference.
Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK)
Universal Pre-K (UPK) is a free early childhood program for eligible North Rockland residents. Children must be 4 years old by December 1, 2026 (born between December 1, 2021 and December 1, 2022).

Step 1: Submit an Application
All families must submit an application to be considered for placement.

Step 2: Complete Registration Packet
If your child is selected, a registration packet is required to enroll. You may complete it in advance if you wish.

If the number of applications exceeds available seats, a lottery will be held. Families can rank preferred childcare locations, and placement is based on availability and preference when possible.
- Notification Timeline: Families are notified of placement by mail by the end of May.
- Interviews: Parents/guardians of selected students must participate in an in-person interview.

Student Information Updates

In order to change your address, you must have proof of your new residence. Proof of your residence includes:
- Address Changes must include a copy of the parent's photo ID
- A signed lease
- Current utility bills
- Closing Papers (if new purchase)
- Current pay stub
- Official driver's license, permit, vehicle insurance, or one of the following:
If you are moving OUT of the district, please contact your child(rens) school(s) and sign them out.

If you have a change in your living environment that requires a change of custody for your child(ren), or an amendment to current court documents, please email our registration office at Registration@northrockland.org with the amended documents and your photo ID. Documents such as Custody Petitions, Final Orders of Custody, Temporary Orders of Protection, Foster Care forms (DSS-2999), and/or amendments to existing custody judgments or Adoption papers.
If you do not have access to email, please use our Red Drop Box located in the lobby of 65 Chapel Street in Garnerville.

To update a name change for a student or parent/guardian, please provide official documentation reflecting the new name. Acceptable documents may include:
- Birth certificate
- Marriage certificate/license
- Social Security card
- Court-issued name change documents
All documents must be submitted to the Registration Department. You may either bring them in person or email copies for review.
Please note: Court-issued documentation is required for legal name changes not related to birth or marriage.

Transportation & School Requests
Submit requests for transportation from childcare, school transfers, or non-public school transportation.
Report a Nonresident Student
If you know someone attending our district schools, who is not a resident, please let us know. Your call can be anonymous and gives the students who truly live within the district a fair chance at a good education. You can call (845) 942-3074.
