Health Requirements for Athletics
Under the Commissioner’s Regulations, students must have a health examination before participating in sports. This examination is intended not only to determine if a student may participate, but also to help ensure the student’s overall health and safety before beginning strenuous physical activity.
Free Physical Locations
Student-athletes who need a physical for the 2026–2027 sports season have two free options:
Physical at North Rockland High School

Free Physical Through Rockland Urgent Care

Registration and Clearance Information
- Online registration opens July 20, 2026.
- Parents/guardians must complete the online registration through the Power Media Registration System.
- During registration, families may upload a current physical completed by their healthcare provider or obtain a free physical through Rockland Urgent Care.
- Please note: All required immunizations must be up to date in order for a student-athlete to be approved.
Athletic Clearance Process
- Student-athletes who register after July 20, 2026, and upload an updated physical will not be required to attend the in-person physical session if all other requirements have been met.
- Parents/guardians can check their student's approval status through the Power Media Registration System. The portal will show whether an athlete has been approved and will identify any missing requirements. Families will also receive an email notification.
- Students returning from a medical absence must provide doctor clearance before returning to sports.
- All varsity, junior varsity, and freshman athletes will be cleared electronically once all requirements are completed in the Power Media Registration System. Families should log back into the portal to confirm their athlete's clearance status. Students who are electronically approved do not need to see the school nurse for additional clearance.
How to Check if Your Athlete Is Approved
Families can check their athlete's clearance status through the Power Media Registration System:
- Access the online registration system.
- Select the Family Profile tab from the main navigation.
- Scroll down to review your athlete's registration information.
- Check the approval status:
- Approved: Your athlete is cleared for participation.
- Blank or Not Approved: Review the remarks section for information about any missing requirements or items that need to be completed.

Grade 7 & 8 Students Trying Out for High School Sports
The Athletic Placement Process (APP) allows exceptional Grade 7 and 8 student-athletes who have been invited by a varsity head coach to be evaluated for participation at the high school level. The document below outlines eligibility requirements, the evaluation process, online registration, physical examination requirements, and the required parent/guardian permission form. An invitation to participate in the APP does not guarantee placement on a high school team.
