After earning her Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education and Master of Science in Education in Special Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, she went on to earn her Certificate of Advanced Study in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Siena University. Before joining the North Rockland Central School District, she taught elementary science to students in kindergarten through fifth grade at Port Chester Public Schools. Ms. Chaves is looking forward to helping her students at Farley Elementary School strengthen their English skills while celebrating the languages and cultures they already bring with them. Her passion for supporting multilingual learners will be an important part of her classroom this year.
