James Kraus

James Kraus was first elected to the NorthJames Kraus Rockland Board in 2008.  Prior to serving on our Board of Education, James worked as a lawyer representing seniors and farm workers before pursuing his passion for teaching at Lehman College, CUNY, where he taught for 35 years. He also served as a pre-law adviser, helping students prepare for and apply to law schools. James has lived in Stony Point for almost 50 years and his family has resided here for 100 years. He works with local environmental preservation groups to protect parks and the riverfront, ensuring our kids have access to great places to explore. Before joining the BOE, he was active on SIPT (School Improvement Planning Team) and other school activities, which he still encourages.
