Learning Life Skills in LifeTown: A Day of Hands-On Experiences

Students from the SPIRIT and ACCESS classes at Fieldstone Middle School recently spent the day exploring LifeTown, a fully inclusive center designed to provide recreation, education, and real-world learning experiences for individuals with special abilities and their families.

During their visit, students received “paychecks” and a checklist at the bank before heading out into the town to earn and spend their money. They explored different locations, including a grocery store, salon, post office, movie theater, bookstore, and pet store, while practicing important life skills like decision-making, budgeting, and communication. Students also rented bikes in the center of town, following traffic lights and guidance from traffic officers along the way.

A big thank you to the amazing volunteers at LifeTown for making this such a memorable and meaningful day for our students.
